The Nostalgia of Childhood Magic

Celebrating the Bible Through Teachings

The Nostalgia of Childhood Magic

We are called to be a Set-apart People, a Peculiar People.

In the world in which we live today, this means that our parenting must look very different from what is considered "normal" and even "fun".

It means that some of us must REJECT THE NOSTALGIA we feel for core childhood memories that are dripping with the things that Adonai has commanded us to not intermix with.

**If we are indeed a Set-apart people, a royal priesthood unto the Creator, we are not to intermix with DIVINERS, SORCERY and MAGIC.***

Deuteronomy 7:6
"For you are a set-apart people to Adonai your Elohim. Adonai your Elohim has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a treasured possession above all the peoples on the face of the earth."

If we are to pursue righteousness, we must TESHUVAH (repent/return) of our involvement in the things He deems unholy and instead, RETURN TO HIS WAYS.

At Celebrating the Bible, we are all Believers who have walked with Messiah since childhood. However, we also had to TESHUVAH from childhood books, movies, music, and just the general nostalgia of MAGIC that was once present in our lives.

Until we examine the lives of the children in our culture with a fine-toothed Torah comb, we really overlook the depth of saturation with which our children (and adults) are encased in seemingly "harmless" and "silly" magic.

Its pervasive. And to the Father, it's perverse.

This goes deeper than choosing not to celebrate Halloween. It's about examining every aspect of our lives to see where the deeply offensive aspect of MAGIC has infiltrated in even the most seemingly harmless ways.

***May we grow strong as His Peculiar People in our ability to recognize and eradicate from our lives that which He does not deem holy!***
