Sometimes, after a secular holiday like Easter has passed, we can find ourselves feeling discouraged and perhaps even "sick of heart" when we think of all the time and effort we have put into family and friends with seemingly little or no return. It can feel wearisome and isolating.
We know the value in planting seeds.
Afterall, seeds were planted in the fertile soil of our minds and hearts and took root in new understanding as we began to embrace walking The Narrow Path!
But, do we acknowledge that not all seeds sprout? Do we remember that seeds must be watered and tended with patience?
Each spring we eagerly watch our garden, waiting with bated breath for the moment it bursts forth after our hard work from the previous weeks. Sometimes we feel a little disappointed and frustrated as we wait longer than we deem appropriate.
And then...
Suddenly, in the perfect timing beyond our understanding, the garden bursts forth with newness of life and growth! Yet still, there remains many seeds that have not sprouted- a few weak seedlings that have fallen away…but also alongside them, a few tiny seedlings that are barely pushing through the soil, weeks behind their peers.
It is no mistake that we are given this imagery to understand the tilling of hearts and minds for the Kingdom.
Take heart friends. Sow, water, and know that the Father is the One who makes things to grow!
