Feast of Trumpets

What is Yom Teruah?

What Is Yom Teruah? (Feast of Trumpets)

Yom Teruah (Feast of Trumpets) is one of 3 Biblical Holy Days, or holidays, that are to be observed during the "going out" of the Biblical year.

It is commanded in Leviticus 23:23-25
And Adonai said to Moses, "Speak to the children of Israel, saying, 'In the seventh new moon, you have a rest, a remembrance of Teruah, you do no servile work, and you shall bring an offering made by fire to Adonai.'"

Scripture tells us that we must REMEMBER, REST, BLAST the shofar (trumpet), and bring an OFFERING. We are not told what to remember, only that we MUST remember.

Some believe that Yom Teruah (the day of the sounding of the shofar) calls attention to the coming ultimate holy day of Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement) when we are told to "afflict our being" and teshuvah (return) to our Creator.

Others believe Yom Teruah is a memorial for the creation of the world. (Job 38:7)

Yet still others believe that it is a call to the Father to remember US, his set-apart people.

What we know for certain is that Yom Teruah is a call to REMEMBER the CREATOR, His WAYS, His TORAH, His COMMANDS, and the return of HIS MESSIAH!

Matthew 24:30-31
And then the sign of the Son of Adam shall appear in the heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth shall mourn, and they shall see the Son of Adam coming on the clouds of heaven with power and much esteem.

And He shall send His messengers with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together His chosen ones from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.

Yom Teruah is a set-apart day where the Father's set-apart people come together in one accord with the blasting of the shofar, making certain that heaven and earth (both the spirit and the physical) hear that we choose to obey His commands, want Adonai to remember us, and that we look forward to the return of HIS MESSIAH!
