Although we often refer to YOM TERUAH as THE FEAST OF TRUMPETS, the word "teruah" can also refer to the sound of a trumpet, a great shout or alarm, and even a battle cry. When we think of how we are to REMEMBER Yom Teruah, we can use Scripture as our guide.
Joshua 6:5
"And it shall be, when they make a long blast with the horn of a ram's horn, and when you hear the voice of the shofar, that all the people SHOUT with a great sound..."
Judges 7:18-20
"And I shall blow with the shofar, I and all those with me, then you shall also blow with the shofar round about all the camp, and SAY, 'For Adonai and for Gideon...And the three companies blew with the shofar and BROKE THE JARS...And they CRIED, 'A sword for Adonai and for Gideon!'"
***Regardless of whether we own a physical shofar, we can REMEMBER Yom Teruah by making a great noise!***
Here are some ideas:
-a great shout of triumph (such as a chant like "Yeshua is King!")
-search for a video of a shofar
-homemade shakers (bottles with beans or gravel)
-toilet paper roll tubes
-rolled up paper to use as makeshift horns
-drums, including homemade drums from trash cans or cardboard boxes with sticks
-recorders, egg shakers, or other instruments
-pots and pans with wooden spoons
Regardless of what method we use to make a great noise unto the Creator, it should be noted that this is a very unique time as Believers all around the world are making a great noise unto Adonai just as we head into a HEIGHTENED SEASON OF EVIL (upcoming secular holidays, such as Halloween).
As beautiful as Autumn is, it is also a time of high evil spiritual activity and it is appropriate that we proclaim our allegiance to the ONE TRUE GOD, the GOD of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
Ephesians 6:11-13
Put on the complete armor of Elohim (GOD), for you to have power to stand against the schemes of the devil.
Because we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against authorities, against the world-rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual matters of wickedness in the heavenlies.
Because of this, take up the complete armor of Elohim (GOD), so that you have power to withstand in the wicked day, and having done all, to stand.
