As we prepare our hearts for the Biblical Appointed Time of Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement), we find ourselves reflecting on the Messiah and His sacrifice for our sins.
WE PREPARE BY MEDITATING ON THE WORD
Psalm 119:11
I have treasured up YOUR WORD in my heart (mind), That I might not sin against You. Blessed are You O Adonai! Teach me Your laws.
John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with Elohim (GOD), and the Word was Elohim (GOD).
WE PREPARE BY MEDITATING ON MESSIAH'S SACRIFICE
Isaiah 53:5-7
But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our crookedness. The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed....He was led as a lamb to the slaughter
WE PREPARE BY MEDITATING ON THE POSTURE OF OUR HEART (MIND)
Jeremiah 17:9
The heart (mind) is crooked above all, and desperately sick- who shall know it?
Romans 3:23
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of Elohim (GOD)
WE TESHUVA (RETURN and REPENT)
Joel 2:13
And tear your heart and not your garments, and turn back to Adonai, your Elohim (GOD), for He shows favor and is compassionate, patient, and of great loving-commitment, and He shall relent concerning the evil.
Acts 3:19
"Repent therefore and turn back, for the blotting out of your sins, in order that times of refreshing might come from the presence of the Master (Jesus)..."
WE SEEK HIS WILL FOR OUR LIFE, WHICH IS LAID OUT IN SCRIPTURE
Deuteronomy 28:1-2
And it shall be, if you diligently obey the voice of Adonai your Elohim (GOD) to guard to do all His commands which I command you today, that Adonai your Elohim (GOD) shall set you high above the nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you if you obey the voice of Adonai your Elohim (GOD)
And we remember that OBEDIENCE IS BETTER THAN SACRIFICE!
(1 Samuel 15:22)
